Topic Point: The 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup has concluded. Did an African teammake it the final, or even win the World Cup? Did the United States with theirnew manager, Mauricio Pochettino, make it to the quarterfinals (or more)? Howdid the traditional European and South American powerhouses fare, and didLionel Messi look like the magician of old? Regardless of specific outcomes, Ihope you enjoyed it and that this guide helped with that.
In 2027, the FIFA Women’s World Cup willtake place in Brazil. In honor of this, we will do another manual to review thehistory of the women’s game!
In 2030, the FIFA Men’s World Cup will beco-hosted by 3 countries (2 Europe and 1 Africa) but 3 centenary games will beplayed in South America. Prior to that, there will be continental cups for thenational teams, four club seasons, a Club World Cup, and the annual domesticand continental cups for club football. Interest permitting, we will take alook at all of them!
Ted Lasso: TedLasso will return for a 4th season this summer (2026) withTedmanaging AFC Richmond’s Women’s team. Since the FIFA Women’s World cup takesplace next summer (2027), we look forward to seeing how the cast of Ted Lassohonor the women’s game and will tie that into our manual for the FIFA Women’sWorld Cup!
Soccer-related note: We will explore the history of women’s soccer in all 6 continentalassociations, barriers that needed to be overcome, the popularity of the game,and growth in various countries.
American Sports comparison: In the next manual, we will look at the other women’s professionalsports, individual and team. Many women paved the way for what we get to seeand enjoy today. There is still much to be done, but it is exciting to seewomen getting the recognition and opportunity they deserve.
